Branding - Essay Example jectives to help and innovate and expanded its product lines, which greatly helped the company to expand overseas as people everywhere had the same needs and wants. Presently, Colgate is listed as one of the best-selling brands and operates in over 200 countries with an annual turnover in excess of $9 billion (Kantar, 2014). Colgateââ¬â¢s success shows how important it is for global enterprises to support their values, for example; Colgateââ¬â¢s global values are: caring, continuous improvement, and global teamwork, which enable the company to improve and adapt to the changing customer needs, as well as, global market challenges (Colgate, 2013). The companyââ¬â¢s stable global growth also is because of the companyââ¬â¢s ability to focus on its four strategic initiatives, such as: engaging to build the brand, innovate for business growth, effectiveness and efficiency, and leading to win (Colgate, 2013). Colgate always carries out environmental scanning that helps the company to identify the external factors that will influence organisational performance (Wood, 2010). Factors that are political, legal or technological may pose different threats to Colgateââ¬â¢s business when entering a new country, or even, when the company has already successfully established its operations. Therefore, the external audits carried out are always considered to be a major focus for any organisation that wants prosperity (Baines, 2011). Furthermore, Colgate-Palmolive concentrates on creating personal care products in areas where the competition in this sector is relatively high. This means that; Colgate has to monitor the situation around its business in order to take the lead among its rivals (Schultz et al., 2006). The first and most important external audit that Colgate needs to constantly monitor is the governmental regulations. This is especially as Colgate is a multinational corporation each political atmosphere in every country that Colgate-Palmolive operates has the same value and

Witches in Macbeth Their Importance and Role Essay Example for Free
Witches in Macbeth Their Importance and Role Essay They leave Macbeth to interpret the greetings himself. They plant the seed of ambition into his mind when they predicted all glorious titles to him. They are very influential and can predict future, due to which Macbeth bases all of his decisions on what the witches have told him. When Macbeth has his second meeting with the witches, the scene where Macbeth goes to seek the help of the witches, and as they know he is coming they prepare a potion for him to drink. The witches know what the outcome of what they said would be ecause apparently witches were not only able to predict the future but also the outcome of each decision that the characters in the play would take and how these characters would change, from noble to evil. This again shows how their role in the play is very important. When Macbeth reaches the cave the witches say, ââ¬Å" By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes,â⬠(act 4 scene 1 lines 47-48 ) This clearly shows that the witches have noticed the change in Macbeth as they refer to him as being evil. The witches lead him to think about murder, being the King and power. Their plan works and soon after in a conversation with Banquo, we see, that murder is going through Macbethââ¬â¢s mind, in soliloquy, when he mutters to himself, when Macbeth says, ââ¬Å" My thought, whose murder yet is but fantasticalâ⬠(act 1 scene 3 line 151 ) Not only do the witches spur on his want to be king but they even try to entice Banquo by telling him, ââ¬Å"Thou shalt get kings, though thou be noneâ⬠, (act 1 scene 3 line 71) meaning his heirs will be kings. Later on in the play Macbeth, when he is king, sets his mind back to this moment and makes him think that Banquo is a threat as his heirs will be Macbethââ¬â¢s successor. This idea, along with the fact that Banquo knew about the witches and Macbethââ¬â¢s thoughts on murder, leads to Macbeth wanting Banquo dead. Even though the witchesââ¬â¢ greetings affect Macbeth and lead to the murder of Duncan and Banquo, they do not actually directly tell Macbeth to commit these actions. However if the witches had not greeted Macbeth, he would not have ultimately killed Duncan. The apparitions are very much like the witches greetings. When Macbethââ¬â¢s questions are un-answered, it tell us that the witches have set the apparitions up to tell Macbeth the information which will affect later decisions, which in fact lead to his death. Macduff would not have hated Macbeth so much if Macbeth would not have killed Macduffs family. The apparition tells, Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff; (Act4 Scene1 line 83) and after the news of Macduffââ¬â¢s flight to England, Macbeth gives orders for Macduffs family to be killed. So the witches play an imperative part in the outcome once again. The witches also convinced him to continue to walk along the bloody path by advising him to be ââ¬Ëbloody, bold, and resoluteââ¬â¢ and to have ââ¬Ëno fearââ¬â¢. These predictions gave Macbeth confidence to murder more victims. They also encouraged Macbeth and enabled his conscience to murder as to fulfill the witchesââ¬â¢ prophecies.

Affirmative Action and Racial Tension Essays -- Argumentative Persuasi
Affirmative Action and Racial Tension à Affirmative action. What was its purpose in the first place, and do we really need it now? It began in an era when minorities were greatly under represented in universities and respectable professions. Unless one was racist, most agreed with the need of affirmative action in college admissions and in the workplace. Society needed an active law that enforced equality during a period when civil rights bills were only effective in ink. With so much of Americaà ¹s work force spawned from integrated schools now, some may question whether racism really is the problem anymore, and many college students might answer yes. They see it on college campuses today, and they are not sure why. Subconscious prejudices, self-segregation, political correctness, reverse discrimination, and ignorance all wade in the pool of opinions surrounding affirmative action and racial animosity. With racial tensions ever present in this country, one might question whether the problems can be solved by affirmative action. Some feel that affirmative action in universities is the answer to the end of racism and inequality. If more black students get into and graduate from good colleges, more of them will go on to even out the lopsided numbers in the work force. Prejudice secretly slips through everyoneà ¹s thoughts. Or so Barbara Ehrenreich believes when she writes of a quiet, subliminal prejudice that is caused by statistics that prove the fewer numbers of blacks in high profile jobs. When we see ninety percent of leadership roles in the corporate world held by white men, we begin to doubt otherà ¹s competence in that field. With so many minorities in menial roles, people begin to believe the white man is best for ... ...uys.à ² Time 13 March 1995:114. Irvine, Reed, and Joseph C Goulden. à ³The Ã

Equality in Harrison Bergeron Essay
Kurt Vonnegutââ¬â¢s short story ââ¬Å"Harrison Bergeronâ⬠is set in the future (2081), when the government has supposedly made everyone ââ¬Å"equal. â⬠The people of this era are forced equal by technology. These people are denied individuality, and the governments have taken their freedom by enforcing laws. Vonnegutââ¬â¢s story is a satire because the society he depicts is not truly equal, but rather a totalitarian regime under the pretense of equality. I will examine how Vonnegut seems to be implying that in such a society, the government gains too much control and people gradually lose their individuality. In Vonnegutââ¬â¢s story, ââ¬Å"everybody was finally equal. They werenââ¬â¢t only equal before God and the law. They were equal in every which way. â⬠So how does this differ from the equality we enjoy in our current society? Vonnegut goes on to explain that, in such a society, equality means that ââ¬Å"nobody was smarter than anybody else. Nobody was better looking than anybody else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than anybody else. â⬠But how would this be possible if every human being is born differently? The government forces citizens to wear different levels of handicap devices according to their differing abilities. For example, a handicap radio is forced on anyone considered smart, a mask is forced on anyone considered beautiful, and heavy bags full of birdshots are forced on anyone considered strong. All these rules are enforced by the ââ¬Å"211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution,â⬠and the ââ¬Å"unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General. However, this also implicates that equality is not actually achieved because the Handicapper General is evidently not restricted in the same manner. In fact, the Handicapper General, which seems to represent the government, controls the life of citizens. People like George might possess intelligent thoughts such as ââ¬Å"maybe dancers shouldnââ¬â¢t be handicapped. â⬠However, these thoughts might undermine the Handicapper Generalââ¬â¢s power, so the handicap radio works ââ¬Å"every twenty seconds or soâ⬠to ââ¬Å"keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains. Georgeââ¬â¢s son Harrison Bergeron, who according to the news channel is ââ¬Å"a genius and an athlete,â⬠is regarded as ââ¬Å"extremely dangerous. â⬠After Harrison escapes from jail ââ¬Å"under-handicappedâ⬠, he is quickly tracked down by authorities and shot by the Handicapper General herself. Vonnegut seems to imply that ironically, power are in the hands of only a few people under the pretense of equality, and that extraordinary people has no place to live in such an authoritarian society. Controlled by the government, citizens also lose their individuality. Masks are worn so beauty is hidden. When George and Hazel were watching ballerinas on the television, the ballerinasââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"faces were masked, so that no one, seeing a free and graceful gesture or a pretty face, would feel like something the cat drug in. â⬠Moreover, people who are strong have to wear weights on their bodies. George had a ââ¬Å"forty-seven pounds of birdshot in a canvas bag, which was padlocked around [his] neck,â⬠which even Hazel finds pitying. Even voices are controlled. Reading a bulletin, a ballerina had to ââ¬Å"apologize at once for her voiceâ⬠because her actual voice was ââ¬Å"a warm, luminous, [and] timeless melody. Therefore, people in this society lose their individuality and humanity. Vonnegut seems to imply that the government intrudes the everyday lives of citizens under the pretense of equality, just like the communist totalitarian regime of Mao Ze Dong in China. Vonnegut seems to think that equality in the sense of eliminating individual differences would never work. If the government forced handicaps on gifted people, how could we improve our society? Creative thinkers wouldnââ¬â¢t be able to come up with new ideas, technology development would stagnate and the quality of life would deteriorate. Suppose there werenââ¬â¢t anybody capable of inventing the mobile phone, how would contact your friends and family on the road? In conclusion, ââ¬Å"Harrison Bergeronâ⬠portrays how people can potentially lose their individuality and unwillingly accept totalitarian control under the pretense of equality. Vonnegut wants to warn us about how dangerous such a society is and how the improper usage of equality is fatal for the human race. We should never sacrifice individuality for equality!

Muscle Milk Essay
Father and son; Mike and Greg Pickett, Founded Cytosport Inc. in 1988. The product with good taste targets bodybuilders and athletes. Muscle Milk is not only designed with athletes or body builders in mind, but can be beneficiary to a wide range of individuals seeking to be stronger, healthier, leaner, livelier or bigger. CytoSport just obtained its NSF Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for Sport Registration, showing credibility that it does not contain any substances on the banned list recognized by the World Anti-Doping Agency, the National Football League, Major League Baseball, etc. (Bloomberg Business Week, 2008). Unlike other companies, Cytosport condemns the use of performance enhancing drugs, and through its efforts with IOC, NFL, and NCAA, will never include chemicals like steroids amongst their ingredients (article Base 2010). CytoSport, one of the companyââ¬â¢s best selling products, Muscle Milk, is designed to provide nutrients that will naturally build up bodily tissue. Muscle Milk has several extension brand, including powder products, pre-blends products and power bars. Muscle Milk RTD (Ready to Drink) which comes in five delicious flavors : Chocolate shake, Vanilla creme shake, Strawberry and creme, Banana creme shake, Chocolate malt. Every bottle contains 25g of premium proteins for sustained energy including, Calcium and Sodium Caseinate, and Milk Protein Isolate (Cytosport 2010). The 14 oz. serving of Muscle Milk is gluten and lactose free and contains precisely 25 grams of protein to sustain energy, carbohydrates and functional fats for energy metabolism, and all essential amino acids in 20 vitamins and minerals. Combining science with performance Muscle Milk allows for rapid muscle growth, high energy, and increased metabolism of fat. The creators of Muscle Milk listen to the needs of their consumers and offer a variety of options for their product, such as Muscle Milk Light, their low calorie blend, or Muscle Milk Naturals which omits the use of artificial sweeteners (all business 2008). Competitive review, Muscle Milk is currently the leader in RTD protein shakes (Bloomberg Business week 2008). However there is a quickly rising competitor named Isopure, although at the moment it has not yet had as much sales as people who have been in the market for a while they have a formula which provides them with 100% all isolated natural protein (All Business 2008). In All business week article explains the distribution review, the product can be found at stores such as GNC, 7 Eleven, Costco, Vitamin Shoppe, and Fitness First Gyms. It is also available in several popular online sites such as bodybuilding. com, prosource. net, keysupplements. com and several others. Partnered with Pepsi Beverages Co. to distribute the RTD line of Muscle Milk and Muscle Milk Light in its territories in the US and Canada. The strengths of the company are since, Established in 1998 Cytosport has valuable sales experience in performance enhancing market. Our brand name is very well liked and recognized by bodybuilders and partners alike and is already being marketed via sports teams such as the Yahoo cycling team and the Under Armour Football Combines. There are over $200 million in sales within the last accounting period (Article base 2010). It has the financial resources to study the market trends; thereby, plan for the future, train sales personnel and to effectively market the brand. There are several weakness of our product, Brand recognition, even though Cytosport is an established and renown by the gym population, the general public still doesnââ¬â¢t know of their products. Some people may experience diarrhea, abdominal cramps and nausea after the consumption of Muscle Milk (Livestrong 2010). Some of the opportunities of our product; we are currently proud to be supporting 24 colleges by improving over 125 athletic programs. We do this by providing our Muscle Milk line of products to assist in their strength training (livestrong 2010). In March, CytoSport introduced Muscle Milk Protein H2O in GNC stores and Costco, two of their biggest partners. The Protein H20 comes in a variety of fruit flavors including Grape, Grapefruit, Orange and Raspberry. The product contains 60 calories and is sugar-free. In todayââ¬â¢s gym obsessed world, Cytosport is utilizing this is an opportunity to promote muscle milk, thus increase its market share, whilst creating value for the customers. Unfortunately there are several threats, Nestle USA is currently suing Muscle Milk saying that they do not have any actual milk in their product and that is ââ¬Å"eceptively misdescriptiveâ⬠(All Business 2008). A third party medical group may come out with research indicating that this type of product is unhealthy (all Business 2008). There are also over fifty other competitors in this Market including CNP professional Proslam, Strength Systems USA Muscle Blast, and AllMax Nutrition ISOFLEX. Pepsi Co might start their own line of product if they see this as a good revenue line That can also be a threat. Future FDA regulations on the product may cause us to cease operations. SO Strategy, we use strengths to take advantage of opportunities Use of their efficient R&D team to develop new products quickly to respond to new distribution channels demands. We also use of experience and knowledge to create and address the specific needs of new segments of the market. Ex. Female athletes and children. WO Strategy, overcoming weaknesses by taking advantage of opportunities. Gaining brand recognition through the partnership with Pepsi Beverage Co. also improving their logistics specifically their product distribution. ST Strategy, use of strengths to avoid threats. Using the experience and product knowledge to successfully compete with any new competition entering the market. These are the TOWS analysis building strategies. Brand Positioning strategy, We currently have a benefits positioning strategy. Our product gives consumers a better way to quickly recuperate after a tough workout. For example, while working out, drinking muscle milk helps promote nutrients in your body to gain energy. Another benefit for the consumers are since we target mainly body builders, They have to maintain a healthy diet to stay in good shape, muscle milk have all the proteins and vitamins for the body needs, and consumers can replace their meal by drinking muscle milk. Product Branding strategy, Muscle Milk is a co-brand product with Cytosport. Both companies work together to make this product the best for our consumers. Line Extensions, we have already made several changes to the formula to create a variety of RTD protein shakes such as Muscle Milk light and diet Muscle Milk. For the pricing strategy, we reviewed the category performance and competitive items using Safeway SmartTraks, risk reports and the bump chart to show the price sensitivity for Muscle Milk and the competitive items. We then provided Safeway with an in depth data analysis which included a price market survey for all nine Safeway divisions versus the competi- tion for the entire category to allow them to evaluate and consider a strategy change for sports nutrition in their stores on a national basis. Our strategy was to move Muscle Milk from a high-low promotional program to an everyday low cost program. In order to do this, we needed to approach CytoSport to present our findings and see if they would be interested in providing funding based on our analysis that at a lower retail price, they would see an increase in product move- ment. This process also involved providing Safeway with projections to show them that the increased unit and dollar sales at a reduced retail price would increase their overall adjusted gross margins. With the VP of Sales at CytoSport we successfully developed and presented a plan to Safeway where CytoSport would provide the incremental funding and Safeway would reduce their margins in order to bring Muscle Milkââ¬â¢s retail price down. The Distribution strategy, we will reduce the cost of production, transportation and other costs associated in the process by creating a partnership with Pepsi. On the Marketing communication strategy, we used Shaq as an advertisement and created a limited edition bottle. Goal of this strategy: Muscle Milk is not only a good source for protein for your workouts, it can now make you feel like Shaquille Oââ¬â¢Neal. We plan on using this strategy in the future with other athletes such as Brandon Roy, Ryan Hall, and etc. (Promo Magazine 2009). Since college sports are very popular we started creating limited-edition bottles themed after some of the most famous college football teams such as Georgia Tech, University of Miami, UCLA and etc. For example in UCLA wee created a bottle just for the theme of their football team using the colors of their school which are gold and blue. The 7,500 bottles produced are expected to be on shelves in November (Promo Magazines 2009). Creating value, We plan on improving our website so that we have a premium buyers page where you can get your product shipped faster the more you buy. Our partnership with Pepsi Co. makes this possible. These preferred will also be receiving special offers, such as if they pay their account balances within 15 days they get a 2% discount. Value proposition, Cytosport will provide quality product to its customers at low prices, Establish good customer relationship and loyalty, In turn maintain and/or increase the market share, and satisfying consumer needs with superior quality products, efficacy and reliability. Mars Curiosity Rover is Uncovering Martian History
Mars Curiosity Rover is Uncovering Martian History Every day a robotic rover about the size of a small car wakes up and makes its next move across the surface of Mars. Its called the Curiosity Mars Science Laboratory rover, exploring around Mount Sharp at the center of Gale Crater (an ancient impact site)à on the Red Planet. Its one of two working rovers on the Red Planet. The other is the Opportunity rover, perched on the west rim of Endeavour Crater. The Mars Exploration Rover Spirit stopped working and is now silent after several years of exploration on its own. Each year, Curiositys science team celebrates another full Martian year of exploration. A Mars year is longer than an Earth year, roughly 687 Earth days, and Curiosity has been doing its job since August 6, 2012. It has been a momentous time, revealing dazzling new information about Earths neighbor in the solar system. Planetary scientists and future Mars mission planners areà interested in conditions on the planet, particularly its ability to support life. The Search for Martian Water One of the most important questions the Curiosity (and other) missions wants to answer is: what is the history of water on Mars? Curiositys instruments and cameras were designed to help answer that. It was fitting then, that one of Curiositys first discoveries was an ancient riverbed running underneath the rovers landing site. Not far away, at an area known as Yellowknife Bay, the rover dug into two slabs of mudstone (rock formed from mud)à and studied samples. The idea was to look for habitable zones for simple life forms. The study gave a definite yes, this could have been a place hospitable to life answer. Analysis of the mudstone samples showed that they were once at the bottom of a lake filled with water rich in nutrients. Thats the kind of place where life could have formed and flourished on the early Earth. If Mars had living organisms, this would have been a good home for them, as well.à Where Did the Water Go? One question that keeps coming up is, If Mars had a lot of water in the past, where did it all go? The answers suggest a range of places, from frozen underground reservoirs to the ice caps. Studies by the MAVEN spacecraft orbiting the planet strongly support the idea that some episode of water loss to spaceà occurred. This changed the planets climate.à Curiosity has measured various gases in the Martian atmosphereà and has helped Mars scientists figure out that much of the early atmosphere (which was probably wetter than now) escaped to space. More recent studies have revealed underground ice on Mars, and possibly salty meltwater just beneath the surface in some areas.à Rocks tell a fascinating story of Mars water. Curiosityà has determined of the ages of Martian rocks, and how long a rock has been exposed to harmful radiation. Rocks in direct contact with water in the past tell scientists more details about waters role on Mars. The big question: when did water flow freely across Mars is still unanswered, but Curiosity is providing data to help answer it soon. Curiosityà has also returned important information about radiation levels on the Martian surface, which would be important for assuring the safety of future Mars colonists. Future trips range fromà one-way missionsà to long-term missions that send and return multiple crews to and from the Red Planet. Curiositys Future Curiosityà is still running strong, despite some damage to one its wheels. That has led team members and spacecraft controllers to devise new study routes to accommodate the problem. The mission is one more step to the eventual human exploration of Mars. As with our exploration of Earth over the past centuries - using advance scoutsà - this mission and others, like the MAVENmission and Indias Mars Orbiter Mission are sending back valuable word about the territory ahead, and what our first explorers will find.

Effective expository essay writing guide
Effective expository essay writing guide Expository essay If you want to create a good expository essay, you should follow the clear manual. Indeed, the definitions of the expository essay are rather ambiguous, andà students experience some difficulties with the successful completing of the task. Some of them confuse this task with the explanatory essay, but it is totally wrong approach since these assignments are different. We assure you that the following manual will become your effective assistant in the process of expository essay writing. Indeed, the expository essay writing implies using facts instead of opinions. The expository essay topics can be various; however, you should concentrate your attention purely on the facts rather than on your personal opinion. There is no place for reflection; you have to analyze the statistics, the existing views, and relevant arguments. It seems that this task is quite boring; however, it aims to discuss a particular topic to the smallest details. To get the best grades, you have to use only the relevant facts and opinions. All the evidence of the false information will help you to fail your grade. As you may understand, expository essays require only thorough work with the reputed and peer-reviewed sources. Such type of academic writing does not allow using the first person. Describing a certain process of activity, you have to choose the second person only. Such an essay, like many other types of essays, should follow the classic structure. It should include the introduction, the main body, and the conclusion. The introduction will briefly describe your topic. You should familiarize your reader with the problems discussed in your essay. Also, do not forget about a clear thesis statement. It is a controversial idea that will be proved throughout your essay with the help of the various arguments. Expository essay writing requires dividing your essay into several paragraphs according to the main ideas discussed in your essay. Each paragraph should start with a clear topic sentence that will be followed by the statistical, logical and factual analysis. Be creative! Even if you do not have to use the metaphorical language or personal opinions, try to impress your professor by the creative approach. You can include some interesting fact or unbelievable statistics to demonstrate that the topic is interesting to you. Exclude the obvious things. There is no need to fill your essay with the generally known information; your instructor expects to learn something new and interesting. Apply the rules mentioned above when writing your essay and your piece of writing will become a true example of expository essay writing art. Proofread your essay at the end of the writing process, because no matter how creative your content is, the numerous grammar mistakes will spoil your reputation. We assure you that all your classmates will use your expository essay as the source of inspiration. Expository Essay: Guidelines on Structure Is there any specific approach to writing an excellent expository essay? The most efficient method is to adhere to a standard type of five paragraphs in the text. Consequently, the whole paper will comprise approximately from 500 to 800 words. This typical standard for a test implies a proper length of writing accompanied with excellent ideas that will bring you to success. What are the five paragraphs? Introductory paragraph Body (paragraph 1) Body (paragraph 2) Body (paragraph 3) Conclusion Writing an outline is the best approach to starting an expository essay. Take into consideration all the factors before scribbling down the first line. Mention the first aspect and give a concise description, then go on to the next one, add the third and then conclude your ideas. Introductory Paragraph Yourà thesis statement should be included here to summarize the main points and present the key argument coherently. Double check if all the guideless are met after you have written this sentence of major importance. Body (Three Paragraphs) Remember that transitions between the body paragraphs are as important as your presented ideas. The canvas of your essay is complete only is the threats of transitions make it stick together. The ideas should unfold logically and be presented clearly. Besides, it should be easy for the readers to follow the statements without any extra explanations. It is challenging to be consistent in writing without a well-written outline. It is the body that contains all the main ideas. The best method of working on the paper is limiting your paragraphs with one presented idea only. Present one, explain it thoroughly, and then resolve the problem going smoothly to the following one. As a result, what you get is a presentation of three ideas built up to the conclusion. Having presented any of your ideas, always make sure that they match the thesis statement. Any solid essay is based on the presented statistics and factual materials. You cannot just make the readers believe you if your opinion is not confirmed with facts, quotes from reliable sources, or numbers from articles. If your task is to work on an expository essay, it is frequently given as a spontaneous assignment in class. In that case, it is clear that you have no access to any outside materials or research. What you have to do is to think about clear arguments and base them on the facts you know about. Conclusion A concluding paragraph is not merely a restatement of the already presented ideas and thesis. Instead, it is a summarization of the key arguments done properly to clarify all the points for sure.à It is also a good idea to make a conclusion somewhat personal or add either a call to action or a rhetorical question addressed to the readers.
